Part (in CADCAM)
Part is a particular type of CAD model describing a single part. It will usually be build from features. and represented as a unique solid.
Parametric
capability of some CAD systems to keep a directed set of relationship so that changes can be propagated to following constructions. In some cases theses relationship will correspond to the design intend and some mechanical logic of the design.
3D
Common short term for a CAD or CAM software supporting spatial representation like the actual world. in a 3D system model will usually take advantage of solid modelling or surface modelling. 3D is like 3 dimension.Usually X, Y and Z
2D
Common short term for a CAD or CAM software supporting planar representation like the drafting table. 2D is like 2 dimension.Usually X and Y
Feature
software abstraction of the mechanical concept of hole, rib, slot, pocket used to describe the model in a more functionnal way. The feature representation help the user to define his part and helps the sofware designer because features are easier to param
Drawing (in CADCAM)
A special case of CAD model where the geometry describe a drawing exactly as a draftman whould have done it. Coordinates will be in paper space.
Assembly (In CADCAM)
An assembly in CAD is usually a specific model referencing other parts with their respective coordinates transform and the mate rules
CAD
precise term for the data managed by a CAD system to represent the parts. It is the virtual model of the designed part.
