A classical
book which interests a wide audience from computer graphics enthusiasts to geometric
modeling researchers. Only a background in calculus and basic linear algebra is assumed.
The concepts are introduced informally in a reader-friendly style. However mathematical
formalization is not forget and useful exercises are provided. Bézier curves and surfaces
play a central role in this book. They are used to present spline interpolation and
rational curves and surfaces. Technical notions as geometric continuity and numerical
stability are clearly explain. Two chapters, written by W. Boehm, are devoted to
differential geometry. Tensor product patches, triangular patches and Coons patches are
also examined. Finally, this book ends by a useful glossary and a large bibliography.
