The latest  release of Ole for Process Control (OPC) is the Version 2.0 of the OPC Data Access Specification published in November 1998. With this new version OPC now provides an Automation Interface then support for Microsoft Visual Basic  and any product using Visual Basic for Applications.

The official Web Sites for OPC is OPC Foundation. There is also an European site at OPC Europe and a Japanese one at OPC Council Japan.

The Manufacturing pages at the Microsoft Industry Site is another major Site for information related to OPC.  Because OPC is based on COM, DCOM the Microsoft interest in this area cannot be ignored. The new Microsoft  announcement about  Windows® DNA-M, an architectural framework for manufacturing based on DNA is another good reason to visit these pages.
